The Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) is seeking a Digital Marketing Specialist to create, coordinate, and implement marketing and communications activities to support the vision and strategic direction of CCI.

CCI, unique in the nation, is a statewide consortium of more than 40 Virginia universities and colleges, and includes a number of industry and government partners. Its interlocking mission lines - research, workforce development, and innovation - focus on cybersecurity. The CCI Hub, which coordinates the network, is based at the Virginia Tech Research Center in Arlington, Va. https://cyberinitiative.org/

The Digital Marketing Specialist position reports to CCI's Director of Communications and Marketing. This is an entry-level position. Applicants who meet many, but not all of the required qualifications, are encouraged to apply.

The specialist creates and maintains signature print materials and graphics, such as ROI graphics and print signage for special events.

The specialist manages CCI's social media, which entails executing live social media coverage and logistics event support. This position requires some travel to off-site events.

This position also composes outreach emails and manages email marketing plans.

The specialist implements the creative direction and maintains branding consistency for CCI programs, events, and collateral research activities, while executing essential marketing tasks in strategic Communications Plans.

The specialist may also write news articles for the CCI Hub website, Virginia Tech News, and other media outlets as needed.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree with experience in graphic design, marketing, communications, journalism, or a related eld
* Proven experience in today's communication elds, including evidence of strong graphic design skills, social media management, knowledge of AP style, interpersonal communication skills, writing skills, and presentation skills, as well as an understanding of effective graphic design and branding principles, and the use of the internet as a medium of communication
* Prociency using the Adobe Creative Suite, Canva Pro, Microsoft Ofce, image processing, and social media tools
* Project management experience with the proven ability to prioritize projects and tasks based on workow and current deadlines
* Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple and competing priorities
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively across a wide variety of platforms to plan, produce, supervise, and evaluate print and digital collateral deliverables with high levels of accuracy within established budgets and time frames

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous experience in a professional graphics design or communications position
* Experience working in a higher education setting
* Experience managing external vendors/agencies
