Job Description

This position supports a high-visibility government agency and department. This person works closely with the client to develop and sustain the agency's internal and external communications programs. The work environment is dynamic, fast-paced and flexible.

Responsibilities:

The Marketing Communications Writer serves four primary roles that support and promote the client's mission and goals: 1) writes and edits news articles, feature stories, employee profiles, and other content based on research and interviews; 2) collects and edits photos in Canva and Photoshop; 3) creates articles, newsletters, and messages in content management systems; and 4) provides executive-level communications support. The Marketing Communications Writer is expected to provide a wide degree of creativity and latitude in supporting multiple program offices and client facilities.

This position will help maintain editorial calendars, track the progress of editorial and creative products, and gather and report metrics to various audiences in engaging and proactive ways. The person also will create marketing and promotional content for a variety of communications channels, provide peer review of written materials, and cover and report on events, virtually and in person. The ideal candidate will have an innate ability to collaborate across multiple communications teams, including but not limited to editorial, creative, and digital media.

The ideal candidate must be a self-starter and fast learner. A background in journalism is preferred, as is the ability to understand and translate technical language.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field with 5 or more years of experience in the field.
  • Proficiency in writing and editing news and feature articles, as well as marketing content.
  • Proficiency in writing executive scripts, video scripts, talking points and presentations.
  • Experience conducting research, interviewing experts, and fact-checking content.
  • Ability to translate technical jargon into plain language.
  • Familiarity with AP style.
  • Experience laying out text and photos using standard content management systems.
  • Strong customer-service skills, including interaction at the executive level.
  • Proficiency in developing communications plans and strategies.
  • Clearance: Subject to suitability screening/background investigation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Basic skills in design, multimedia production, photography and photo editing.
  • Experience in website analytics and developing metric reports.
  • Experience with GovDelivery, CQ5, Adobe AEM.
  • Experience with highly creative design and production teams.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year

Schedule:
