Established in 1946, Up to Date Laundry (UTDL) is one of the largest healthcare laundries on the east coast, processing close to 60 million pounds of linen each year.  UTDL offers a full line of healthcare linens, lab coats, cubical curtains, scrubs, mats, and microfiber mops.  We service hospitals, doctor offices, surgery centers, and research facilities.  UTDL operates a full plant and a fully stocked warehouse that can supply our customers’ products at a moment's notice.  We recycle 905 of all waste and have multiple "green" initiatives throughout our facilities.  Our focus is to partner with our customers to maximize their linen utilization by implementing customized programs that will be cost effective and enhance patient satisfaction.

As a Route Supervisor (RS) position responsible for supervising and directing the work activities of Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) ensure the highest standards of customer service are maintained within the framework of a safe and productive operation.

Position responsibilities:
  • Be available to run routes, with very little up-front notification, for CSRs that call out of work for the day and or vacation or time off requests.
  • Be proficient in running all routes within the business.
  • Perform CRS evaluations when driving and or training with them to ensure they are following all company policies and procedures.
  • When all routes are covered the RM will perform specials for customers, audit inventories at customers and assist in training CSRs and any other duties as assigned by the RM or DM.
  • Ride with CSRs to learn routes and take detailed notes on directions and specifics on how each customer is serviced.
  • Routinely resolves customer issues within established guidelines and partners with customers in identifying satisfactory solutions.
  • Available to workdays, nights, weekends, and holidays if necessary to be able to meet our customer’s needs.
  • Builds strong customer relationships with product users and decision-makers on an on-going basis with the objective of continuing and renewing service contracts.
  • Confirms that customer loads are correct before leaving the UTDL location. Drives a UTDL delivery vehicle to deliver clean products to customers according to specifications. Collects/sorts and returns soiled products to the UTDL location for laundering.
  • Accurately complete all records and required paperwork daily.
  • Insuring customer has ample inventory to use until next delivery by managing inventories established by the customer.
  • Counting both soiled and cleaned products to manage customer inventories.
  • Physically moving carts of linen on and off company vehicles.
  • Physically inspecting company vehicles and logging problems found on company vehicles before and after physically driving the vehicles (also known as pre-trip and post-trip reports).
  • Responsible for other job-related duties as assigned.

Essential skills, experience, and education:
  • HS Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of experience and technical/managerial training required.
  • 1-3 years related experience in customer service or equivalent education and experience.
  • Ability to use mobile device to accurately service customers.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule.
  • Hold a valid driving license.
  • Ability to obtain applicable federal and state DOT certification to operate and UTD vehicle.

Physical demands: 
Comfortable working outside in inclement weather, handling soiled garments, and delivering products to a variety of different locations.  Be very flexible with work hours and must be able to adjust schedules with little or no prior notification.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.  The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; drive, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and move up to 75 pounds and occasionally push carts that may weigh up to 1,000 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work environment:
This job sometimes operates in an office environment and will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  This position also requires visits to other facilities and departments and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, variations in temperature, and loud noise levels in some work areas.  May also be exposed to extreme weather conditions.
