Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Acoustic Data Analyst with demonstrated experience supporting DoD requirements to join our team at Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD), West Bethesda, MD!

As an Acoustic Data Analyst, you will:

A week in the life of an Acoustic Data Analyst:

  • Process and report the analysis results of acoustic data collected by recording systems during SONAR groom and calibration events.
  • Generate Sonar Calibration (SOCAL) reports.
  • Provide support for the TUBA Acoustic Reporting and Processing System (TARPS) laboratory efforts, including developing, integrating, testing, and sustaining upgrades to the acoustic processing systems.
  • Support NSWCCD engineers in the development of new acoustic data processing equipment and associated Research and Development (R&D) efforts.
  • Support development of technical documentation and procedures, provide In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) support, support fleet training efforts, support Sonar Calibration (SOCAL) trial efforts, and provide engineering support to TUBA system development and upgrade efforts.
  • Assist NSWCCD in analyzing measurement data in support of generic and platform certification efforts, as well as to investigate problems and verify proper system behavior.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics OR three years of U.S. Navy fleet operational experience with at-sea measurement trials.
  • 3 - 7 years of technical experience with acoustic data acquisition systems which process, analyze, and report on beam noise, FFT, time series, PC-IMAT/STK, K-OMEGA, or transmission loss recorded acoustic data.
  • Have an active Secret security clearance.
  • Two years of experience conducting R&D efforts to support the design and evaluation of time series data recorded from sonar systems/sensors for post processing and analysis.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, LINUX RED HAT, MS SQL, MATLAB, JIRA, ACROBAT, ADOBE AUDITION, or AUDACITY.
  • Two years of experience with system analysis of large Navy sonar radiated noise, self-noise, and structure-borne noise systems, including acoustical signal acquisition, transmission, telemetry and processing subsystem, and numerical and acoustic model development, implementation, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills; Team player.
  • Ability to meet deadlines on assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Multi-task oriented and capable of prioritizing.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $65,000 - 82,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
