JOB TITLE: Engineering Technician II

4th shift (Thursday - Saturday, every other Wed 5:30 pm-6 am)

JOB SUMMARY

Independently performs timely and accurate technical and analytical work on complex experiments. Designs, builds and tests prototypes and raw materials and develops and executes custom test methods. Leads set-up, operation and troubleshooting of test and/or manufacturing equipment and performs other engineering related tasks in compliance with Company and external regulatory guidelines, policies, and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Performs complex testing, creates and modifies procedures, and inspects raw materials and assemblies using standard or custom tools.
  • Maintains, accurately follows, and records protocols/procedures and test logs.
  • Identifies a wide range of complex trends or problems and solves or directs their solution and/or interprets and recommends actions.
  • Collaborates with engineers and leads the design, development, and building of test fixtures, test protocols/procedures, monitoring strategies, or inspection results.
  • Performs technical, administrative, and logistical responsibilities in identifying work area needs. Works with other groups such as facilities to execute changes to the labs for routine maintenance as well as reconfiguration for future needs.
  • Performs accurate recordkeeping. Records test data and uses software such as MS Excel to chart/graph and display data.
  • Provides work direction and training for less experienced technicians.
  • Develops standards, tools, and methods and provides or writes documentation to a level required by the department.
  • Under the guidance of engineers, writes test protocols and reports and executes test plans.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a lead, coach, and mentor to less experienced technicians.
  • Responsible for meeting all regulatory compliance requirements as required.
  • May be required to provide database information to groups.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Technical degree or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Course work in the following is preferred:
    • Advanced mathematics, statistics, metrology
    • Engineering disciplines (mechanics, fluids, dynamics, material science) or related technical training
    • Hydraulics, electronics, mechanics, computer programming or related fields
    • Chemistry, biology, physics, physiology, anatomy, or related sciences

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years experience in a technical role, or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Experience in medical device industry preferred.
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing and testing preferred.
  • Cleanroom assembly experience preferred.
  • Requires skills and experience in design and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and/or software systems.
  • Requires experience in the fabrication of complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and assemblies.

Skills

  • Knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications and skills to use them effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong team skills and demonstrated ability to lead others. Requires well-developed interpersonal rapport with peers inside and outside the company.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a positive, proactive approach to solving complex and/or unusual technical problems.
  • Planning skillsto work independently and manage own time effectively. Ability to carry out a wide range of projects and resolve the most complex problems.
  • Knowledge of statistical operations and analysis.
  • Skills tointerpret and adapt guidelines.
  • Proficiency and knowledge of state-of-the-art technology related to their function.
  • Ability to specify and procure materials and components needed in the development of test and verification and validation equipment.
  • Professional interfacing with manufacturers, vendors, and contractors in the development of products and processes.
  • Knowledgeable about machining, welding, fastener, and assembly technologies, as applicable to the role.
  • Able to provide input toward the design of mechanical/electro-mechanical systems.
  • Works safely with hand tools, power tools, rotating equipment and electrically energized equipment.
  • May require using bovine or human blood for laboratory testing and ability to work safely with potentially hazardous and/or contaminated equipment using PPE.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

General Labor Environment requirements include: use of personal protective equipment, reading, speaking, hearing, traverse, bending, standing, stretching/reaching, hand/finger dexterity, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, or transporting up to 500 pounds via carts or mechanized equipment.

Target Pay Range:$30.00to$38.00- Hourly pay rateto be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:7.0%
