About the Department:

The Department of Health Administration and Policy (HAP) is seeking an outstanding faculty member to develop academic research and teach in areas related to health policy and public health or health systems management. Areas of expertise may include applied biostatistics, demography, political science, medical sociology, quality improvement and patient safety, health communication, health system design or related areas. Candidates with prior teaching and established extramurally-funded research are preferred.

Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Teach and mentor students at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels;
  • Maintain an extramurally funded research program; and
  • Engage in professional service. Faculty will be expected to collaborate in the development of multidisciplinary courses, degree programs, and research.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have obtained an earned doctoral degree in a related field prior to the employment start date;
  • Interest in academic teaching and advising in a Stem-H related program;
  • An established research trajectory related to policy (particularly federal or state) and public health, or policy and health systems, as evidenced by refereed publications and external funding; and
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in applied biostatistics, information technology, computer science or related field; or terminal professional degree with specialized training and/or experience in health informatics related work/skills;
  • Experience in academic program teaching; and
  • Active membership in AMIA, AUPHA, ACHE, HIMSS or other relevant professional societies.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
