DESCRIPTION

Decypher is seeking Certified Nursing Assistants to support Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (Bethesda, MD)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shall be able to read, write, speak, and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other Health Care Providers.
  • Shall be knowledgeable of equipment and supply terminology and skills sufficient to identify and use necessary equipment and supplies properly and to communicate proper use with nurses, medical staff, patients, and family members.
  • Shall be knowledgeable and possess skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients. The Contract CAN shall demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the appropriate patient population served: Infants, Children, Adolescent, Adults, and Geriatric (>65).
  • The contracted CNA will be knowledgeable in professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures to perform nursing assignments of moderate difficulty and experience in assessing adult and geriatric patients, as appropriate.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.
  • Ensures all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift.
  • Ensures preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed.
  • Identify patient problems and assist in developing, maintaining, and evaluating patient care plan.
  • Establishes and maintains good interpersonal relationships with co-workers, families, peers, and other team members.
  • Prepares patients for diagnostic testing and clinical procedures as directed.
  • Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living as required. Feed patients as required per MTF policy and procedures and IAW JC guidelines.
  • Ensure physician ordered vital signs are completed and recorded per MTF policy and procedures and IAW JC guidelines.
  • Monitors and records physiological measurements in patient progress notes and team conferences.
  • Admits, discharges, and transfers patients as directed.
  • Orients new patients to the hospital environment.
  • Can demonstrate and adhere to peri-operative, infection control and safety policies and procedures used in the MTF and IAW JC guidelines.
  • Can demonstrate good time management skills.
  • Ensures compliance with standard of care and practice IAW all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment MTF and IAW JC guidelines. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.
  • Complete orientation and competency verification programs IAW unit guidelines.
  • When assigned, will serve and participate in committees, functions and other meetings. Provide relevant and timely information and assists with decision making and process improvement.
  • Will report to the Nurse Manager. Will take direction from charge nurse and house supervisor as required in maintaining a safe environment for staff and patient(s).
  • When required, participate in the orientation, training, and evaluation of duty performance of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.
  • As required, participate in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree/Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of a medical assisting program recognized and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or, equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience (i.e., military training).
Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Experience: At least 3 years experience within the last three years as a CNA or equivalent training.
Board Certification: None
Licensure/Registration: Valid, unrestricted, CNA license from at least 1 state, territory or commonwealth of the US.

Citizenship: Must be a U.S citizen.
