Under general supervision, officers patrolCity streets; enforcelocal, state and federal laws; maintainlaw and order, and protectlife, property and deters crime. Candidates for this recruitment musthold a Prior Police Certification that would be accepted by the Maryland Police Training Commission. The starting salaryfor this position is $62,871.42 annually, andrises incrementally with prior experience.

Typical Duties Include:

• Patrolling assigned area to include all public and private businesses and residences, parking areas, and streets.
• Directing vehicular traffic; enforcingtraffic laws; directing pedestrian traffic.
• Enforcingall applicable City, local, state, and federal laws.
• Investigatingcrimes; securingand protecting the scene of a crime and the immediate area surrounding the crime scene so that no evidence is disturbed.
• Makingarrests of persons observed or suspected of committing crimes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED; and,
• Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job;
• Maryland Police Certification.

Licenses and Certifications:

• State Certified Police Officer.If you were certified within the last 5 years, your certification will be reviewed to determine if you are in accordance with the current Maryland Police Training Commission standards.
• Valid State Driver's License.
• Firearms Qualification.

The salary for this position is graded between 62,871.42 and 74,059.32 and will be offered at a level consistent with the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
