Brief Description:

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach Campus, invites applications for three tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to begin August 2024. Priority will be given to candidates with expertise in the areas of Applied and Computational Mathematics.

Detailed Description:

The Department of Mathematics provides the mathematical foundation for Embry-Riddle's various degree programs. In addition, the Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Computational Mathematics and minors in Applied Mathematics and Computational Mathematics. The Department also offers an interdisciplinary Masters in Data Science (MSDS) with multiple tracks that integrate the strengths of the other degree programs within ERAU. The hallmark of the degree programs, in the Department of Mathematics, is the industrial connection of the curricula that aims to prepare students for rewarding industrial careers. As such, the department focuses on providing students opportunities to see the applications of Mathematics in different areas of engineering, physical sciences, business and industry as well as government and non-government organizations.

Thus, we are seeking candidates who are excellent in teaching and actively engaged in research and scholarly activities. Candidate must be able to teach our core undergraduate and graduate mathematics classes with quality academic rigor. A commitment to produce peer reviewed scholarship in their areas of expertise, mentor undergraduate and graduate students research through capstone courses, independent studies or Master's theses, and to pursue for external funding is expected.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

The candidate must hold a PhD in Applied Mathematics or related fields by the time of appointment. The candidates with promising research potential in any areas of applied and computational Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science will be considered. A complete application will include a Resume/Curriculum Vita (including list of references), cover letter and unofficial transcripts. The cover letter should include information about research experience and research plans, as well as teaching experience and philosophy.
