Title: Treatment Assistant

Position Objective:

This position is responsible for the general supervision of residents and their activities, milieu management and facilitation of group meetings. Services are delivered under supervision of a program manager or other assigned staff. Assists counseling and nursing staff with general resident care duties as needed. This individual must have a general understanding of substance use disorders and awareness that patient may have co-occurring mental health issues. The program provides multiple levels of care; every staff member has a role in our patients' success. Staff may be asked to work in other areas of treatment or administration as needed.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Provides supervision of resident environment and activities, including setting limits and providing interventions as needed in collaboration with clinical staff.
  2. Orients new patients to the treatment program, review patient rights and responsibilities individually and as a group. Assist and accompany patients during discharge processes.
  3. Transports patient to and from groups, breaks, meals, outside meetings and appointments as needed.
  4. Supervises patients during breaks and leisure activities, communicates with primary counselors to manage emergent and complex patient issues including issues arising in milieu management.
  5. Performs inventory of required treatment materials and replenishes as needed. Conducts room searches and drug testing according to shift and program standards.
  6. Maintain awareness of patient room assignments and counselor/case manager patient assignments; communicate in a timely manner with patient's counselor or other staff as needed if issues arise
  7. Maintains chart documentation, under supervision according to Joint Commission, COMAR and Luminis Health' requirements.
  8. Attends and participates in clinical inpatient team meetings, multidisciplinary clinical staff meetings along with in-service and other assigned trainings.
  9. Facilitate weekly didactic, focus, and/or therapeutic groups as assigned and may be responsible for group coverage due to vacancy or absence.
  10. Work collaboratively with patient and multi-disciplinary teams, under supervision, to provide care to each patient based on their unique needs, strengths, values and preferences.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Work experience in behavioral health care or personal recovery experience (minimum of two years of recovery oriented sobriety).

Required License/Certifications:

  • Valid Maryland driver's license and a driving record with no more than two (2) points.
  • Current American Health Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification within 30 days of hire.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:

There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.

Physical Demands - Heavy

Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
