Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc., (AMA) is currently seeking to hire a motivated and driven HR Generalist to support all HR functions for the Electrical Systems Engineering Services (ESES) IV contract at NASA GFSC in Greenbelt, MD.

Job Description:

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc., (AMA) is currently seeking to hire a motivated and driven HR Generalist to support all HR functions for the Electrical Systems Engineering Services (ESES) IV contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GFSC) in Greenbelt, MD. The duties would include recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, training compliance, compensation and benefits, FMLA, workplace investigations, policy updates and implementation, and performance management. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to AMA's corporate HR Manager. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is highly motivated, has exceptional organization and problem-solving skills, and demonstrates a positive attitude. A hybrid work environment is a consideration for this position; however, the individual must be able to work onsite in Greenbelt, MD area as needed. The position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for effectively recording, maintaining, and reporting human resource information per the HR team's request and guidance.
  • Performs Generalist recruitment functions including posting job announcements, coordinating interviews, conducting reference and background checks, initiating and routing Personnel Action Forms for new hires, promotions, and status changes, extending offer letters, and coordinating salary negotiations.
  • Working knowledge of MD state employment laws is essential.
  • Professional certification preferred
  • Conduct new hire orientation and exit interviews.
  • Data Entry into Costpoint.
  • Assist employees with FMLA requests, disability claims, and worker's compensation claims.
  • Draft policies and procedures and assist with policy updates in accordance with government regulations, company culture, and best practices.
  • Assist with general employee benefits questions.
  • Promote a drug-free and safe workplace.
  • Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly.
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics as requested.
  • Provide employment verification for security clearance investigations.
  • Assist with HR Team with compliance record keeping and deliverables.
  • Ensure that human resource files and records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements, including I-9 documents and timely reporting of new hires in the government E-Verify system.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of onboarding functions.
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with applicants and staff.
  • Regular monitoring of the HR Helpdesk to respond to questions and problems courteously and promptly.
  • Implement employee retention initiatives.
  • Conducts exit interviews to collect data.
  • May develop staffing plans and programs, attend career fairs, develop or place advertisements, college outreach programs, etc.
  • Support the company's Affirmative Action Plan and apply program compliance measures to ensure integrity and fairness throughout the entire new hires process, and help educate supervisors/managers conducting interviews and making new hire recommendations as well as existing employee promotions and raises.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or HR-related field, plus a minimum of 2 years' experience, OR a minimum of 8 years equivalent work experience in Human Resources or closely related business operations experience.
  • Must have prior government contracting experience. Government contracting experience with NASA is a plus.
  • Must be able to work Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day, including core hours 8:30am-5:00 pm. Eastern Standard Time.
  • Must be located near Greenbelt, MD and able to travel to NASA Goddard Space Flight Center within a reasonable amount of time and a reasonable amount of notice.
  • Must have working knowledge of human resource functions.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter with strong customer service attitude and the ability to assist and support others in a timely manner.
  • Office Management experience is essential with strong attention to detail and sense of urgency to complete necessary time-sensitive tasks.
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with poise and common sense.
  • Must be tactful, diplomatic and possess the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and effectively deal with changing priorities and meeting crucial deadlines is a must.
  • Experience working large contract transitions preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office and database data entry is essential.
  • Knowledge of intermediate Excel is desirable.
