We are looking for an experienced Aviation Technical SMEwith demonstrated experience supporting DoD requirements and an active TS (SCI eligibility) clearance to join our team in Quantico, VA!

As anAviation Technical SMEyou will:

• Research, design,develop, and teststructures, propulsion units, and guidance and control subsystems for aircraft, missiles, or spacecraft.
• Analyzeaerospace product or equipment specifications and performance requirements.
• Analyzeproject requests and proposals and engineering data.

A week in the life of anAviation Technical SME:

• Develops design criteria for aeronautical or aerospace products or systems, including testing methods, production costs, quality standards, and completion dates.
• Plans and conducts experimental, environmental, operational and stress tests on models and prototypes of aircraft and aerospace systems and equipment.
• Evaluates product data and design from inspections and reports for conformance to engineering principles, customer requirements, and quality standards.
• Formulates mathematical models or other methods of computer analysis to develop, evaluate, or modify design according to customer engineering requirements.
• Directs and coordinates activities of engineering or technical staff designing, fabricating, modifying, or testing aircraft or aerospace products.
• Reviews performance reports and documentation from customers and field engineers, and inspects malfunctioning or damaged products to determine the problem.
• Evaluates and approves selection of vendors.
• Plans and coordinates activities concerned with investigating and resolving customers' reports of technical problems with aircraft or aerospace vehicles.
• Evaluates new technologies for application in improving design of aerospace systems.
• Performs risk assessment of aerospace systems and generates risk mitigation plans and strategies.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering ortechnical Field
• 15 years of relevant aerospace and systems engineeringexperience.
• Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Possess an analytical mindset with effective problem-solving skills.
• Adept at briefing executives andprogram IPT level leadership.
• High Proficiency with MS Office applications, including SharePoint.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary/hourly range for this position is $130,000 - $150,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
