ERG has an opening for a bright, motivated industrial hygienist for an onsite position at a client location in Quantico, VA. ERG is a nationally recognized consulting firm specializing in occupational safety and health (OSH), environmental science and engineering, economics, risk assessment, information technology, facility management, training, and communications and outreach. This position will support a range of industrial hygiene and safety activities within the client's health and safety office, including OSH program development and implementation.
Job Description:
  • Assist with evaluating workplace hazards and related risks and recommend control strategies
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform industrial hygiene monitoring and exposure assessments for a variety of stressors related to office environments, maintenance shops, and law enforcement training facilities
  • Assess, control, and provide recommendations on lead exposure, contamination, and cleaning associated with indoor and outdoor firing ranges
  • Research and evaluate OSH topics and develop and/or update related programs, guidance, and outreach materials.
  • Review safety and health plans, accident prevention plans, and Job Hazard Analyses
  • Assist with accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and root cause analysis
  • Maintain hazard abatement logs and safety/personal protective equipment inventories
  • Develop and present health and safety training on a range of OSH topics (e.g., Hazcom, ergonomics, hearing conservation)
  • Conduct workplace inspections and program assessments of client facilities (e.g., offices, warehouses, mechanical areas)
  • Participate in routine safety committee meetings
  • Collect, compile, and evaluate health and safety performance data and recommend strategies for program improvement
  • Coordinate with other IH/safety and health personnel to ensure correct implementation of organization-wide health and safety programs
  • Respond to safety and health trouble calls/concerns (e.g., indoor air quality, ergonomics, mold, construction safety)
Qualifications and Skills:
  • A B.S. degree in industrial hygiene or a related science or engineering field
  • Five to ten years of relevant experience
  • Ability to work well individually and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication, writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
Ideal Candidates will have:
  • Federal government consulting experience
  • AHERA Asbestos Inspector Certification and a Virginia asbestos inspector license are a plus
