ERG is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to independently manage/develop electrical designs for renovations and upgrades to existing buildings and power distribution systems at a federal site in Dahlgren, Virginia. ERG ()is a well-respected consulting firm providing a wide range of support to federal, state, and commercial clients. The successful candidate will be joining a growing team of engineering, facilities, planning, and explosive safety professionals that focus on quality work and fostering collaborative, long-term relationships.

ERG has provided engineering, management, and planning services to this federal client for nearly 20 years. This position will be full-time at the federal site in Dahlgren, VA, and will include interaction and support from ERG personnel at the federal site, as well as from ERG's Chantilly and Arlington offices. Dahlgren is approximately 50 miles from Washington, DC, and 30 miles from Fredericksburg, VA. Alternative work schedules may be considered.
Job Description:
  • Manage/prepare design packages (including electrical design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates) for renovation projects such as replacement and installation of HVAC, electrical power service, emergency generator, surge suppression, lightning protection, grounding, bonding, control systems, and telecommunications systems
  • Conduct technical reviews of design packages created by others to assess compliance with applicable Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), electrical codes, and regulations as well as end-user requirements
  • Provide technical input to proposal development for renovation projects
  • Support design process from concept through delivery of completed design package
  • Prepare technical memoranda/reports that summarize information, such as requirements or basis of design
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other stakeholders internal to, and external to, the design team (e.g., engineering department, manufacturing department)
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (minimum GPA of 3.0)
  • At least 5 years of experience with designing electrical power systems for new or upgraded buildings
  • Experience with the design of energetics-related safety systems (e.g., bonding & grounding, lightning protection systems) is preferred, but not required
  • Experience working with AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Ability to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance
