General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for a Physical Therapist Assistant PRN to join our team!

As a Physical Therapist Assistant PRN, you will provide patient treatment. This might involve therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, or use of modalities. Physical therapist assistants monitor and record the patient's response to treatment and report the outcome of treatment to the physical therapist. care for the Agency's patients.

Primary Duties:

  • Demonstrate clinical competency in implementation of patient care programs as directed by the Physical Therapist. Show competency in the use of modalities, exercise activities, orthotic/prosthetic devices and adaptive devices like crutches and wheelchairs.

  • After one year of experience, serve as a clinical instructor for Physical Therapy Assistant students and assume responsibility for the quality of the student's work. Demonstrate safe transfers and transport of patients with and without oxygen.

  • Frequently collaborates with physicians, nurses, other team, and family members to discuss and coordinate patient care and discharge planning. Participates in in-service and community education to promote physical therapy.

  • Records and reports patient participation in treatment and progress in the medical record. Provides accurate billing information on the same day as the service provided.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in physical therapy.

  • Maryland State License for Physical Therapy Assistant.

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) within 90 days of hire.
