Overview

The is a collaborative, creative and fun academic lab group at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital focused on advancing genome editing technologies for therapeutics. We are known for developing state-of-the-art genomic methods to understand and improve genome editors, and translating them for therapeutic applications. Dr. Tsai was chosen as one of the American Society for Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT) Outstanding New Investigators in 2020 and is one of the co-chairs of the Steering Committee of the NIH Somatic Cell Genome Editing Consortium.

We are seeking an outstanding, experienced, and highly-motivated Lead Researcher to help us advance state-of-the-art genome editing approaches for Cas12a nucleases. We care deeply about the success of our scientists and this is a unique opportunity to work on understanding a class of novel CRISPR genome editors.

You will work in a highly collaborative and fast-paced team focused on developing state-of-the art approaches to understand the genome-wide off-target activity of genome editors. As a Lead Researcher you will use high-throughput genomic approaches to characterize the safety of Cas12a genome editors, and help generate key data to support the development of novel engineered versions of Cas12a.

Responsibilities

  • Genomic studies to understand the safety of genome editors, primarily Cas12a variants.
  • Analyze experimental outcomes and develop high-quality summaries towards manuscripts and grant applications.
  • Draft manuscripts and figures for publication in high-impact journals.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required

Minimum Experience

  • Five (5) years of relevant, post-degree work experience is required
  • Two (2) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degree
  • No experience is required with a PHD
  • Master or Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as molecular and cell biology, genetics, or genomics preferred
  • Experienced with molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture and mammalian cell transfection preferred
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills preferred
