This is a POOL position. Application materials for this limited duration assignment is based on semester-by-semester needs due to increasing demand within the department.

Monday - Friday reflecting Learning Centers hours of operation
Job Summary: The Tutor position assists students in the MCC-Learning Centers with math, composition, and other content areas, who is often a peer who has successfully completed related coursework and was recommended by an instructor. This position will aide with facilitating the student learning to become an independent learner by clarifying specific course content and modeling the use of appropriate study strategies.
Essential Functions:
Tutors assist students in composition, math, and other subject areas
Facilitate student learning by clarifying specific course content, modeling the use of appropriate study strategies, and assisting students in becoming independent learners
Use effective communication skills while tutoring
Participate in all appropriate training opportunities offered by the learning center and MCC
Understand and comply with the guidelines of FERPA and the MCC Code of Conduct
Model appropriate professional behaviors and attitudes to create a welcoming atmosphere for students
May be assigned other duties such as greeting students, logging students into tracking system, appointment setting, checking out resources, etc.
Minimal Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma/GED
Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Successfully completed a college level course (preferred higher-level college course) within the desired tutoring subject area with a grade of A or B.
Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the desired tutoring subject matter.
Have an interest in working in an academic setting and with MCC students.
