Job Description

The Office of EL Services is seeking to hire 3 curriculum writers for specific Project GLAD curricular support this summer. Work will focus on standards alignment and online resource management.

Project 1:

Update 5th Grade Electricity Unit

Writers selected for this project will take an existing 4th grade Electricity Demonstration unit and update it to meet 5th grade Science standards. This 40-hour curriculum writing project will involve writing and creating resources to be used in a Project GLAD 4-Day Classroom Demo. This curriculum writing experience will focus on alignment with new 5th grade science standards following the Project GLAD Demo unit requirements.

Qualifications: Writers chosen will be expected to show evidence of having been trained or qualified in the below initiatives. Expertise, routine use of strategies, models, or approaches from one or more is encouraged.

  • K-5 teacher, coach, teacher leader (licensed staff member)
  • Project GLAD
  • Project GLAD Tier III Trainer Status
  • Knowledge of 5th grade science standards and resources available on Canvas
  • Knowledge and regular use of the Google Suite tools

Essential Functions

  • Work collaboratively with Project GLAD Specialist to confirm fidelity to Project GLAD Demo requirements
  • Develop a unit plan centered on aligning the Electricity unit to the new 5th grade Standards of Learning

Employment Information

June 1-August 15, 2023

$30.00 per hour (outside of work hours) committing to approximately 40 hours

Project 2:

Align 4th and 5th Grade Science Project GLAD Resources in Google Drive

Writers selected for this project will examine and update existing 4th grade and 5th grade GLAD resources in the Project GLAD Google Drive to meet 4th and 5th grade Science standards. This 20-hour curriculum writing project will involve making sure that all the Project GLAD charts and resources are organized and aligned to the standards.

Qualifications: Writers chosen will be expected to show evidence of having been trained or qualified in the below initiatives. Expertise, routine use of strategies, models, or approaches from one or more is encouraged.

  • 4-5 teacher, coach, teacher leader (licensed staff member)
  • Project GLAD
  • Knowledge of 4th and 5th grade science standards and resources available on Canvas
  • Knowledge and regular use of the Google Suite tools

Essential Functions

  • Work collaboratively with Project GLAD Specialist and Science Curriculum Specialist to confirm the alignment of resources to SOLs
  • Edit, revise, and organize existing GLAD resources.

$30.00 per hour (outside of work hours) committing to approximately 20 hours

Project 3:

Update and Organize GLAD Online Presence

Writers selected for this project will organize the Project GLAD Canvas page, the GLAD Google Drive, and the ACPS Project GLAD Webpage. This 40-hour curriculum writing project will involve updating and organizing all the platforms Project GLAD resources are accessed from and working closely with the Project GLAD coordinator to coordinate.

Qualifications: Writers chosen will be expected to show evidence of having been trained or qualified in the below initiatives. Expertise, routine use of strategies, models, or approaches from one or more is encouraged.

  • K-12 teacher, coach, teacher leader (licensed staff member)
  • Project GLAD
  • Project GLAD Tier III Trainer Status
  • Knowledge of Canvas design
  • Knowledge and regular use of the Google Suite tools

Essential Functions

  • Work collaboratively with Project GLAD Specialist to create a website that is outward facing
  • Organize current Project GLAD Google Drive to make it more teacher friendly.
  • Organize and update Project GLAD Canvas page

Employment Information

$30.00 per hour (outside of work hours) committing to approximately 40 hours

Clearances

  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.

Public Health Compliance

  • Proof of COVID vaccination. Exemptions for religious/medical will be reviewed.
  • Must follow safety and health protocols.
