The Maintenance fleet specialist is responsible to assist in all decisions involving Acuity vehicles. This position supports providing budget and cost reports of all Acuity vehicles as well maintain daily function of all vehicles. The Maintenance fleet specialist directly report to Fleet Manager

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all vehicles and equipment assigned to departments
  • Maintains a complete inventory system through recording of all expenditures and income of each vehicle, maintenance equipment, fuel, repair parts, supplies, etc.
  • Monitors user departments by analysis of vehicle and equipment utilization and evaluation of equipment specifications.
  • Enforces shelter safety practices and procedures and ensures employees receive appropriate safety training.
  • Welds; replaces parts; repairs parts; repairs electrical systems; diagnoses vehicles for minor body and fender work; performs tune ups and engine overhauls; troubleshoots problems when needed
  • Keeps maintenance and repair records; performs preventive maintenance on all departmental vehicles; orders repair parts.
  • Checks all repair work performed in shop for completeness. This includes physical inspections and road tests before vehicle is turned back to user departments.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Job Requirements

  • 1 years of technical field experience
  • 1 years of experience in operating, maintaining, and supervision of vehicles
  • Proficiency with computer, common office equipment, and MS Office products
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle systems and technology
  • Clean Criminal background check
  • Clean Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) or Child protective services check
  • Able to evacuate at short notice to accompany residents possibly to a different city for several days at a time

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 years' experience in vehicle maintenance

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Able to withstand changing environmental conditions with weather (rain, lightning, extreme heat and winds).
  • Able to withstand and manipulate through construction areas, sports fields, etc.
  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
  • Must be able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors throughout the entire duration of their shift period, which lasts 8 hours or more on a typical shift.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, or stoop for the entire duration of the shift, as necessary.
  • Must be prepared and physically able to respond with appropriate protocol in a variety of dynamic supervision situations with clients of 0-17 years in age.
  • In a sudden or emergency event, staff must at all times be physically able to run, jump, lunge, twist, push, pull, apply approved techniques and otherwise manage or coerce the full weight of an infant or adolescent.
  • Ability to pass a medical examination to determine one's fitness to satisfactorily and safely care for youth if accommodations are required.
  • Able to communicate verbally and listen for constant surveillance of staff activities.
