Who We Need

The Accounting Lead is responsible for a combination of GAAP accounting, government accounting, and the ability to manage complex projects within a fast-paced general accounting environment. This position interacts with all levels in the accounting department as well as numerous other departments in the company and reports directly to Sr. Accounting Manager.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain the integrity of the financial systems and the maintenance of accounts and records in such areas as assets, liabilities, equity, income and expense.
  • Review journal entries ensuring compliance in accordance with FAR, GAAP, and DCAA regulations as well as determine proper accounting for unusual or one-off transactions.
  • Assist Program Managers in understanding financial reports related to funding, spending, CLIN structure, etc.
  • Work with Program Managers to build and maintain spend / burn plans
  • Create journal entries, as necessary, for proper revenue recognition and cost adjustments/allocations
  • Oversee and perform month and quarter end close activities, including journal entries and variance explanations
  • Ensure financial deadlines are met for month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial closings
  • Ensure disbursements are within the approved amount and proper supporting documentation has been provided
  • Assist with the review of contracts and contract modifications
  • Compile and analyze financial information to ensure adjustments and reclassification of costs are made in accordance with GAAP and DCAA regulations.
  • Responsible for the review and approval of account reconciliations to ensure that transactions and sub-ledgers are reconciled to the general ledger in accordance with policy.
  • Oversee and manage Chart of Account changes
  • Ensures SOX controls over processes are functioning.
  • Mentor team members to deliver quality support.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
 

Your Qualifications

  • A minimum of one year of budgeting and/or cost proposal development for government contracts.
  • Deep experience using Microsoft Excel with specific demonstrated experience using complex formulas, pivot functions, and graphing functions.
  • Familiarity with government contract accounting procedures and methods.
  • Familiarity with reporting tools such as Microsoft BI.
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and relational databases and software.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Minimum Associate degree in business or related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of budgeting and finance.
  • Familiarity with GovCon regulations and standards.
  • Familiarity with DCAA rules and regulations preferred.
  • US Citizen
 

Required Skills

  • 5+ years accounting experience
  • Experience working with various accounting systems
  • Familiarity with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and Federal Travel Regulations (FTR)
  • Knowledge of Contract Funding and Value Ceilings
  • Experience with handling multiple clients, client communication and client interaction
  • Advanced MS Excel capabilities
  • Proficient with other MS Office 365 applications (Internet Explorer, Outlook, Word)
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritization abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with PROCAS Accounting & Time and Expense, Unanet, and QuickBooks software
  • Intermediate Costpoint experience
  • Experience with PIEE (WAWF and MyInvoice), PLSC, TOS, IOL, WOI
