Overview:
URC is searching for an experienced Business Development (BD) Consultant who is available for multiple short-term assignments over the course of six to twelve months. Specific assignments under the consultancy will be administered under individual Work Order Agreements (WOAs). The number of assignments is not guaranteed.
Responsibilities:
The Consultant will assist URC with high-level processes and policies. The consultant will be required to interact with a wide range of staff to write, review, and finalize procedures. The Consultant will also develop competitive, responsive, and persuasive proposals; take a lead role in preparatory efforts for bids, including planning and completing capture; and provide guidance on pipeline development and pre-bid intelligence gathering efforts.
The specific Scope of Work will be issued after a candidate has been chosen, however, general assignments could include:
  • Lead in role knowledge management and capture of best practices and lessons learned for future business development activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and staff to write, review, and finalize business development documents.
  • Perform miscellaneous writing and editing tasks related to business development documents.
  • Ensure compliance and responsiveness within business development documents.
  • Facilitate of discussions over business development best practices and lessons learned, communicate processes and deliverables to cross-functional teams and staff, and ensure business development documentation is complete, responsive, and accurate.
  • Collaborate with regional team colleagues to form capture management and proposal development team(s).
  • Manage proposal teams in partnership with the proposal lead, leads regular proposal team check-ins, and ensure adherence to schedule; mobilizes resources throughout the proposal cycle.
  • Ensure compliance and responsiveness to procurement document(s).
  • Facilitate responsive solution design and ensure design is reflected in technical and cost volumes.
  • Lead capture efforts, including travel to the field. Additionally, lead in developing, maintaining, and communicating comprehensive capture plans with internal stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
URC is looking for an experienced business development consultant with previous experience working with business development for international organizations and the US Government.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 8 years of Business Development Experience for international donor-funded programing.
  • Outstanding inter-personal skills and attention to detail and the ability to produce high quality deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and finalizing corporate documents.
  • Ability to write and provide copy edits in English.
  • Ability to draft corporate communications in English.
  • Previous experience with US Government funding.
