The Opportunity

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Lead Buyer/Planner who will have responsibility for developing the materials and production plans for the assigned raw materials and products in support of our new MicroWell and Equipment Factories. The initial focus of this role is to support the project goals and objectives as the factories are established and then sustain the materials buying and production planning responsibilities. This primarily includes assessing demand, supply, inventory, pricing, quality and master data management in the ERP system (SAP specifically). The buying aspects of the position include the material master data set-up, establishing inventory targets, purchase order creation, maintenance and tracking in SAP for raw materials and Ariba for services used in the manufacturing process. The planning aspects of the position include product master data set-up, developing supply responses to inventory levels and demand via production schedules, achieving productivity goals as well as inventory and service level goals. The position is in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities

  • Develop material purchase plans, prepare purchase orders for the timely and economical purchase of goods and services with regard for cost, quality and delivery.

  • Point of contact to suppliers ensuring purchase order adherence, facilitate expedite/de-expedite.

  • Develop master production schedules in response to demand projections and inventory balances.

  • SAP maintenance of master data, work orders, purchase orders, address invoice discrepancies.

  • Oversight of non-conformances and resolution of invoicing issues.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with business partners (Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, R&D, Warehouse and Product Support) as well as partner with the Strategic Sourcing leads and suppliers.

  • Attend daily project and production planning meetings, provide updates as required.

  • Establish and maintain appropriate material safety stock levels of materials and products.

  • Perform other work related duties as assigned.

The Individual

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a highly regulated manufacturing, supply chain, planning or inventory environment required.

  • 7-10 years preferred.

  • Proficient use of and experience with ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred).

  • Professional certification within Supply Chain (ie: APICS) and/or Process Excellence (Lean, 6-Sigma) preferred.

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Word and Excel experience is required.

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Access preferred.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply results to resolve issues.

  • Strong customer focus and sense of urgency to meet demands required.

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects concurrently.
