The Opportunity

As the company continues to grow we are seeking a Buyer Planner II. The Buyer Planner II generates work orders and device history paperwork to support the manufacturing of VITROS consumable fluids as well as end-to-end management of assigned raw materials including but not limited to supply, inventory, pricing, quality and master data management in the ERP system (SAP specifically). The planning aspects of the position relative to work order generation include material availability checks, batch or lot number assignment and expiration dating and device history record creation. The buying aspects of the position include the creation, maintenance and tracking of purchase orders in SAP for raw materials used in the manufacturing process. The candidate will be responsible for achieving productivity goals as well as inventory and service level goals. Management of non-conformances and resolution of invoicing issues are essential components of the position. Development and maintenance of relationships within the building (Operations, Quality and Product Support) as well as partnering with the Strategic Sourcing managers and raw material suppliers is also essential.

The Responsibilities

  • Work order creation and accompanying device history record paperwork to support manufacturing operations.

  • Purchase order creation and maintenance.

  • Retrieval and organization of work orders and device history record paperwork from manufacturing.

  • SAP maintenance of open work and purchase orders as well as maintaining and updating documents via change control process in document management system.

  • Back up coworkers and support business partners via meetings or requests for information relative to moving the business forward.

Other Duties

  • Attention to detail is paramount to success in this position as well as strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Use of appropriate business systems within Ortho to complete daily task

  • Proficient in analyzing a production schedule and determining raw material requirements on purchased items.

  • Basic knowledge of cost accounting required to predict and explain purchase price variance, standard cost setting and absorption as well as accounts payable resolution.

  • Projection of monthly inventory quantities and dollars as well as providing details on inventory dollar variances to plan.

  • Be cognizant of and strictly adhere to all government regulations and requirements of the business as well as Ortho's internal compliance and GMP guidelines.

  • Team playing and team building.

The Individual

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment or business is required; 3-5 years preferred.

  • Proficient use of and experience with ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred), Microsoft Word and Excel is a must.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
