Global Science & Technology, Inc (GST), a growing scientific and high technology company, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented assistant training coordinator to directly support the Applied Remote Sensing Training (ARSET) program at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.

The ARSET program enables organizations engaged in water, disasters, land, climate, and air quality management to apply NASA Earth Science Data. The project works directly with agencies and policy makers to develop online and in-person trainings that teach users around the globe how to access, visualize, and apply NASA Earth Science Data in their professional area.

The position is located at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD, with some time required onsite, but also includes some flexibility for teleworking and alternative work schedules.


Position Summary:

The assistant training coordinator will work with ARSET Programmatic staff with overall coordination and implementation of the program's online and in-person training. The assistant training coordinator will aid ARSET trainers in the preparation of annual training plans, communicate with speakers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and assist in the production of training videos for delivery to training participants. The assistant training coordinator will help in the management of online registration systems, communication with program participants, collection of training metrics for reporting purposes, management of performance indicators, and assist with program evaluation.

The ideal candidate is someone with a desire for continuous learning and strong problem-solving, communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills. The candidate must be able to work effectively across several different functional areas in a collaborative environment, be well-organized and able to handle multiple assignments, and be willing to take initiative in his/her tasks.


Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline plus three years of relevant experience developing multimedia, working in capacity building, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with interactive web-based learning modules for asynchronous multimedia (stand-alone, web-delivered), synchronous-remote (live instructor-led, web-delivered), and in-person learning on scientific topics
  • Experience designing, conducting, managing, and coordinating trainings via online education platforms (e.g., GoToWebinar, WebEx, Articulate)
  • Experience in video processing and editing (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro)
  • Experience conducting outreach and end user needs assessments for federal, state, and local governments; industry; non-profits; and academia
  • Experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse team members or in multidisciplinary collaborations
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and be assertive
  • Experience with communicating results and impacts
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Team-oriented and an aptitude for coordination
  • Resilience and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to multi-task and process information efficiently

Desired Qualifications, but not required:

  • Experience with e-learning authoring tools, media/graphic design, Learning Management System (Moodle, OpenEdX)
  • Experience working with the NASA's Applied Sciences and Capacity Building Program areas, and/or equivalent programs in positions of increased responsibility
  • Experience writing reports and communicating scientific content to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with interagency and/or international partnerships or committees
  • Web development skills (HTML)
  • Experience with Esri ArcGIS or QGIS, and Google Earth Engine
  • Relevant experience working in applied remote sensing or GIS
  • Experience speaking in front of large audiences, both in-person and virtually
