The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support Ortho's e-Connectivity and related systems. The principle accountabilities of this position are to design, develop, enhance, and implement technical solutions to defined problems and opportunities. This will require defining systems scope and objectives across a diverse array of platforms, databases, software, hardware, technologies, and tools. Ideally is suited to a self-motivated individual, capable of operating with minimal levels of supervision. This position can be located in Rochester, NY, Raritan, NJ, or Remote.

The Responsibilities

  • Work with the Global Information Systems Business Field's team in production support and implementation of new solutions within or directly associated to the Ortho's e-Connectivity application framework.
  • Support eConnectivity middleware environment, such as ThingWorx / AWS IoT, for Production issues and application releases.
  • Follow System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) process to design, develop and deploy complex solutions using CI/CD Pipeline.
  • Assist the Global Information Systems Business Field's team to create best practices, standards, procedures, and documentation for BI solutions
  • Interface with Senior Management, IT managers, developers, and users. Provide expert technical direction on usability and best practices.
  • Support and troubleshoot production systems as required, optimizing performance, and resolving production problems.
  • Assist in performing annual cross data assessments and other compliance related requirements.
  • Support OrthoCare and R&D organization in instrument software release/install process.
  • Performs other work duties as assigned.

The Individual

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years programming experience with at least 3 years of end to end solution deliveries.
  • Comfortable in working in with a mixture of technologies including SQL, Java, Python, AWS Lambda.
  • Experienced in working integrated applications with databases and writing queries against databases.
  • Experience in web application servers.
  • Proactive, self-motivated with the ability to motivate others and a customer-focused service attitude.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization, both technical and non-technical.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experienced in source code management, Azure Dev Ops, and Git Repositories.
  • Administration and integration with Redshift, Aurora, SQL and Oracle databases.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and working with any programming language.
  • Desirable: experience in integration of SaaS based solutions.
  • Desirable: Demonstrated experience with Webserver configuration and troubleshooting.

Internal Partners: R&D department, OrthoCare Team, Sales, Marketing.

External Partners: Ortho+ Users (Customers)

The Work Environment

This position works in a typical office environment and has the option to work a hybrid schedule or fully remote.


Salary Transparency


The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including: education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, its is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $135,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time) and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
