The Opportunity

As the company continues to grow we are seeking a Principal Manufacturing IT Systems Engineer. The Manufacturing IT Systems Engineer will provide information management, networking, and computer infrastructure support to a 24x7 high speed automated manufacturing operation and the associated engineering and maintenance functions. Initially, the primary responsibilities will be to provide hands-on hardware and software support to current manufacturing computing functions. The Manufacturing IT Systems Engineer will support the computing systems currently in place that support manufacturing, determine what the current and future computing needs of the department are, and then work to meet those needs. Finally, all activities are carried out in the context of an FDA regulated medical device manufacturing environment, and the individual is responsiblefor compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies (e.g. FDA, OSHA, DEC).

This position is in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities

  • Machine Control Network Architecture: Partner with the Capital Engineering team to develop/design network architecture solutions that interface with the Equipment Control Systems and Vision systems integral to the new automated manufacturing production lines.

  • Industrial Automation /SCADANetwork Experience: Understand Basics of SCADA / Business ERP systems. Design, Maintain and support WorkCentre needs for continuous production.

  • Computer PC / Server administration: Maintenance of hardware and software. Install,configure, troubleshoot, repair, backup and restore of computer systems. (Win 95 - Windows 10 OS). Experience with VMware products and solutions (vSphere Client / Virtual Machines setup, configuration, install and maintenance). PC-based DEC PDP 11/44 emulators & integrated manufacturing system PC's.

  • Database Administration: Maintenance, install, configuration, troubleshooting, repair, backup and restore of databases (Microsoft SQL Server (03 - 16). Microsoft Access (95 -2016))

The Individual

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Systems Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Computer Systems, Information Management, or a related field, is required.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and a strong hands-on problem solving ability is preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of management as well as manufacturing personnel, are required.

  • Knowledge of GxP requirements and 21 CFR Part 11 is preferred.

  • The ability to develop and deliver presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint is preferred.

  • Since this position supports a 24/7 manufacturing operation, occasional off-hours support (nights/weekends) may be required.

Knowledge ofone or moreof the following is required:

  • PLC experience: Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) PLCs. Rockwell PLC programming software including RSLogix5, RSLogix500 and RSLogix5000

  • SCADA Experience: Rockwell Factory Talk View SE/ME, Rockwell Factory Talk Transaction Manager.

  • PC experience: PC repair/configuration, PC server repair/configuration

  • Control Networking experience: Ethernet, DeviceNet,

  • Database experience: SQL language, MS SQL server 2000/2005, 2012 & 2014
