Aireon is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our Integrated Product Team at Engineering. As a Cloud Engineer, you will deploy, configure, maintain, and secure network and infrastructure resources in public and government cloud environments following guidelines developed in collaboration with Solutions Architect and DevOps Teams. You will assist Service Desk and DevOps teams in investigating production incidents to resolution using the standard Aireon incident management processes. You will be able to sharpen your skills in DevOps and cloud technologies such as Kubernetes while managing critical systems to a secure cloud environment.

Within the first month at the role, we will expect you to:

Get onboarded and trained with your manager.
• Be proactive in learning what Aireon does.
• Understand our internal processes and cloud-based products and architectures.
• Understand the role of IPT at Aireon and learn about IPT members' roles and responsibilities.

Within the first six (6) months at the role, we will expect you to:

• Adept at incident triage and problem solving to resolve production issues with adequate levels of urgency.
• Analyze incidents and assist the technical team in identifying root-cause and corrective actions to prevent a future re-occurrence.
• Provide service requests and identify improvement opportunities where automation or rearchitect solutions can improve overall outcomes and reduce toil.
• Establish and implement guidelines and procedures for continuous patching and update management of operating systems, containerization, and orchestration platforms in line with the major and minor release cycles.
• Collaborate with architects, DevOps engineers, software development teams, and stakeholders to determine requirements to deploy and maintain secure and reliable cloud environments.
• Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure deployment.
• Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools together with a DevOps mindset to establish automated pipelines, immutable infrastructure, and repeatable deployments of containerized cloud environments.

Overall, we will expect you to:

• Build and maintain a robust infrastructure platform to support and enhance engineering team's productivity and experience by creating self-service deployment capabilities.
• Support the availability, orchestration, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of cloud environments.
• Work with Solution Architects and DevOps Engineers to proactively look for "bottlenecks" in cloud environments that affect system performance, evaluate current infrastructure/deployment architectures, and advise and implement best practices keeping in mind scaling, reliability, and cost.
• Establish and mature standards for observability, monitoring, and troubleshooting to detect and respond to production issues effectively and proactively.
• Design and implement agile, innovative infrastructure solutions/infrastructure management solutions that take advantage of technology advances that allow cost reduction, standardization, and commoditization.
• Drive accountability in collaboration with technical teams to meet agreed products' Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Required Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Three or more years of professional experience in configuration, provisioning, managing, and troubleshooting distributed and containerized environments on Azure.
• Three or more years of professional experience managing, monitoring, and improving large-scale and highly available cloud-based platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes (primarily Azure Kubernetes Service) configuration, upgrades, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Experience in building declarative infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code best practices.
• Experience with infrastructure automation/orchestration technologies.
• Proficiency in at least one high-level scripting language (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.) and at least one programming language (Java, JavaScript, C#, Python, .NET Framework)
• Must have hands-on experience with Application Performance Monitoring tools such Azure Monitor, Datadog, and others.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservices.
• Must have working experience in troubleshooting Microsoft Azure services.
• Must have excellent problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment.
• Eligible to obtain SF-85P public trust.

• Azure Administrator certification is a plus.
• Kubernetes Administrator certification is a plus.
• Possess working experience in DevOps environments and a solid understanding of Site Reliability Engineering best practices.
• Possess a strong understanding of modern cloud-native software development lifecycle and practices.
• Adept at creating and keeping standard operational procedures with solid documentation skills, including technical diagrams and written descriptions.
• Possess working experience with standard cybersecurity practices such as identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate, and key management.

• The product development team is responsible for translating customer requirements and business objectives into product and sprint backlogs, designing a robust architecture to support the product goals, creating technical roadmaps, planning product releases, and improving the efficiency of people and processes, leading to faster and reliable deployment.
