Development Operations Engineer (Monitoring and Telemetry)

Location: Remote US

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Software Engineer wanting hands on experience with developing and automating monitoring solutions. Our DevOps engineers work with many different AWS offerings and open source tools, with a focus on delivery to our customers in the cloud. Our DevOps team is customer focused, focused on monitoring, incident management and remediation, such that our systems are available 365 - 24/7.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Implement code and automation towards generating monitoring applications
• Collaborate with other developers and departments on high priority incident resolution
• Participate in standups and perform root cause analysis
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for new and existing systems and procedures
• Maintain and enhance existing systems based on user feedback
• Optimize performance and monitoring run books as necessary to meet the business goals of 99.9% uptime

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or 3 years professional work experience in field
• Desire to automate and avoid manual tasks
• Motivated and works well with minimal supervision
• Proficiency in Python and/or Powershell, Linux
• Experience working with a cloud provider (AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Intermediate to advanced platform with troubleshooting in the technologies in which you are proficient

PREFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

• Strong understanding of AWS resources and application services including Lambda, Step Functions and AWS SDKs
• Working knowledge of Git for source code management
• Familiarity with salt, InfluxDB, Kafka, and Telegraf or any other monitoring solutions
• Experience building monitoring and alerting automation
• Ability to work in a geographically distributed company
• Experience with industry standard monitoring solution(s)
• Advanced job-related technical certifications preferred
