The Engineering Technician is responsible for dimensional inspection and electronic reporting of product using the Optek coordinate measuring machine and pin gages. This position requires attention to detail, computer skills, and the ability to read and understand technical requirements of the traveler and blueprint and providing technical support to the dimensional inspectors on all shifts. In addition, calibration and general upkeep of the ionograph machine, operating a Caltex measuring unit, overseeing hazardous waste can disposal and shearing of all scrap product within the final inspection department shall encompass this lead position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Read, understand, and interpret travelers and drawings provided to assess requirements and special instructions required for jobs.
  • Inspects product to determine compliance with order specifications, company's quality control system for conformity to specified standards.
  • Inspects product using the Optek coordinate measuring machine.
  • Record and print out ALL dimensional reports required by customer.
  • Have complete understanding of completing AS9102 special forms when required by the customer.
  • Record and complete the first-article inspection report for hole size and overall thickness.
  • Identifies non-conforming product and to disposition accordingly.
  • Stamps mark of approval or rejection, or initials, on product or traveler.
  • Quarterly calibration of the ionograph machine as well as general upkeep of additions required.
  • Ensure hazardous waste canisters are emptied as necessary and scrap boards are sheared and disposed of properly.
  • Training subordinates in the above duties as needed.
  • Able to instruct subordinates and give out directions and commands to complete assignments as needed.
  • PCB troubleshooting and Analysis
Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have the ability to read and understand travelers and blueprints to review the customer requirements. Also, must have the ability to effectively communicate with the supervisor and other departments that interact with this position. Have a solid understanding of Geometric, Dimensioning, & Tolerancing.
  • Must have the ability to perform the basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).Also must be able to understand the ability to round-off numbers to the proper digit as identified on the blueprints.
  • Ability to use the Optek coordinate measuring machine program and its corresponding software; have the ability to use and understand Windows based software and have good working knowledge of excel and word.
  • Must be able to apply common sense and understanding to carry out basic instructions. Must be able to determine when product does not meet the requirements and the proper steps to take after the decision. If necessary, have the ability to take any questions concerning dimensions or blueprint concerns to the supervisor, or planning/ engineering department for clarification.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must have very good concentration, must be able remain focused with minor interruptions.
  • Must have ability to pass eye exam with a minimum 20/20 vision that may be corrected via eye glasses or contact lenses as required. Eye exam is required annually.
  • The work environment is typical of manufacturing operations. This facility contains chemicals that are known by the State of California to contain harmful or cancer causing agents. This facility contains high voltage equipment. The inspection area is a clean and well-lit area.
Education and Experience:
  • As a minimum, no less than high school education and one year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Export Statement:
Must comply with TTM Export Control Policies and Procedures and all applicable laws including ITAR, EAR and OFAC including but not limited to: a) being able to identify ITAR product on the manufacturing floor and understand that access to these products and related technical data is restricted to only US Citizens and US Permanent Residents; b) recognition of Foreign Person visitors by badge differentiation; c) understand and follow authorization procedures for bringing foreign visitors into facilities (VAL); d) understand the Export and ITAR requirements for shipments leaving the US; e) manage vendor approvals for ITAR manufacturing and services.
