Job Title: Control Systems Specialist (NARA II)

Job Summary: EMCOR Government Services is seeking a Control Systems Specialist in College Park, Maryland. The person(s) in this position serve(s) as an advanced instrument repairer, by performing involved maintenance testing, calibration and repairs on conventional and complex, state-of-the- art electronic, electrical and pneumatic control systems, instruments, meters and recorders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing various control systems and making modifications to upgrade these systems to improve the overall reliability and efficiency of the subsystems as a whole
  • Diagnosing, testing, and repairing any malfunctioning instruments and controls, on site or in the workshop
  • Installing new equipment/ instruments and following through to make the system operational
  • Tracing control wiring and ladder diagrams if necessary
  • Works on electronic, electrical and pneumatic instruments and controls such as pneumatic to electronic transducers, valves and valve positions, ring balance meters, differential pressure transmitters, pneumatic feedback controllers, electronic and pneumatic temperature, pressure and flow measuring and transmitting devices, microcomputers, watt load chillers, and electronic/pneumatic graph recorders
  • Performs troubleshooting and repairs of all BAS equipment
  • Institute's corrective action and/or inform his supervisor on any deficiencies found while performing the job
  • Monitor subcontractors in their task and provide reports when needed
  • Perform all other tasks as directed by his Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Possess at least five (5) years of experience in electronic, electrical, and pneumatic instrument and control work associated with industrial refrigeration and HVAC systems, to include sequence of operation for recording devices, microcomputer and auxiliary equipment
  • Journeymen's HVAC License preferred
  • Must be proficient in using test equipment (meters, leak detectors, micrometers, amprobes, psychrometers, analyzers, CO and CO2 testers and monitors) to troubleshoot and repair HVAC/EMS equipment
  • Be able to read and interpret technical instructions involving control diagrams, drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and understand Blueprints, schematics, and specifications

Physical Demands:

  • Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 75 lbs)
  • Prolong, extensive or considerable standing/walking
  • Push/pull or move/lift equipment, supplies and parts
  • Manual dexterity and mobility
