Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. is recruiting for a Chemist/Materials Scientist in Oak Ridge, TN.

  • The chemist or materials scientist will perform bench to pilot scale experiments to support uranium and ceramic materials research.
  • The researcher will need to prepare and analyze samples to support their work.
  • The candidate will support senior chemists and materials scientists with analytical method development.
  • The individuals will become familiar with materials process development efforts in order to effectively characterize and optimize the operations and equipment designs.
  • Activities may include operation of analytical chemistry instruments including sample preparation, operation of mechanical property testing equipment, and analysis of results.
  • Analytical equipment includes SEM, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, TGA, NMR, particle size analysis, powder rheology, BET, and acid digestion equipment.
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry or Materials Science with 2-9 years experience in a laboratory, chemical, or material manufacturing environment.
  • Masters degree in Chemistry or Materials Science with 1-9 years experience in a laboratory, chemical, or material manufacturing environment.
  • Active DOE Q clearance preferred, but not required
  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
