Tenneco Global Valve Systems is looking for a Tool & Die Maker / CNC Operator that will be responsible supporting stamping press and assembly operations by working with operators and others to address issues on the shop floor. Make and repair production tooling and equipment parts to support manufacturing.

An ideal candidate for this position is a candidate who possesses a High School diploma or equivalent with the ability to obtain and maintain a tow motor certification. Demonstrate effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with others in accomplishing issues on the shop floor.   • Perform all tasks involved in producing, repairing and troubleshooting stamping dies and tooling.
  • Study CAD or hard copy part drawings to determine sequence of fabricating operations and best machines to use for creating each shape and dimension for assigned parts.
  • Study CAM, and G-code. Familiar enough with G-code to edit a program. Familiarity with Hurco WinMax a plus.
  • Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications given on part drawing.
  • Fit and assemble fixture parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges and tools, using machine tools and hand tools as needed
  • Select metals to be used from a range of metals & alloys, based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerance as indicated on the part drawing
  • Design jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of tooling and other items.
  • Measure, mark and scribe metal stock to lay out machining, using instruments such as protractors, micrometers, scribes, and rulers.
  • Set up and operate various conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to turn, cut, bore, grind, mill or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
  • Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of tooling for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills


  • High School diploma or equivalent.


  • Mechanical ability. Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Experience with arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and their applications.
  • Tool & Die Maker/CNC Operator/Die Repair journeyman's card or 5 years of practical experience.
  • CNC programming and operation experience required; knowledge of Hurco a plus.
  • Ability to interpret complex blueprints and work sketches.
  • Strong analytical ability and ability to work with precision.
  • Must be able to perform computer functions including, but not limited to accessing procedures and documents, participating in computer-based training, etc.
  • Customer Service mindset to serve both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to be flexible: must be able to effectively manage several activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to take initiative, anticipates problems, and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Adhere to local and externally relevant environmental, health and safety laws and policies.
  • Forklift driver certification a plus.


  • Ability to frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling.
  • Exposure to grease, oil and exposure to sharp metal edges

Required Experience


  • Tool & Die Maker/CNC Operator/Die Repair journeyman's card or 5 + years of practical experience.
  • CNC programming and operation experience required; knowledge of Hurco a plus.
