Job Identification

Short Job Description:

The Systems Engineer provides systems design and project management support for large scale control system implementation and related cybersecurity initiatives.  The position requires a minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, preferably a licensed professional engineer certification and/or one or more certifications from industry recognized entities.

The responsibilities include the design, implementation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of high performance cybersecurity systems.  In addition, the ability to perform on-site project assessments, directly lead or actively support the modeling of security risks and complete the design of cybersecurity control system solutions is also desirable. 

The Systems Engineer must lead in problem resolution experience, knowledge of cyber-physical system security initiatives and the ability to work with senior staff in the development of system management tools; and works with other Company Departments to provide a comprehensive support infrastructure for a wide range of commercial, corporate, and governmental users.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent is responsible for:

Maintaining system documentation and maintenance records and generate weekly and/or monthly summary

status reports.

Spending four (4) to six (6) hours per week staying current on industry trends and available products and

services.

Performing staging and setup as needed for project support and for self-instruction.

Working closely with Systems Engineers to install and configure networks based on an Installation Design

Package (IDP) that satisfy the customer's needs.

Researching equipment from a multitude of manufactures to resolve technical issues during installation and

testing.

Working closely with Design Department to identify and correct design problems during the design cycle.

Suggesting process improvements and cost savings to aid Implementation Department for future installs.

Providing systems support for a large-scale, high performance computing center to include the installation and management of computer systems, workstations, operating systems, peripherals, and system interfaces; works with senior staff to monitor system usage and evaluate performance against defined performance goals;

additional duties include the development and maintenance of systems documentation.

Provides designs for automation systems including a list of quantities and types of materials used.

Provide user guideline documentations and manuals for user end custom programs and applications.

Job Interactions

Reports To: The incumbent reports to the Systems Engineering Manager.

Supervises: The incumbent supervises less experienced systems engineers.

Works With: The incumbent works with network analysts and other systems engineers.

Company External: This position requires the incumbent to coordinate work with outside contractors.

Job Specifications

Years of Experience:

This position requires at least 12-15 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or Controls Engineer or in a related field.  Direct project technical execution experience with at least 12-15 of the following industrial application settings: Material Handling Systems (Conveyor, etc.), Pharmaceutical Process Control, Semiconductor Manufacturing Industry, Water & Waste Water Treatment, Electrical Power Distribution, Cybersecurity and Security & Surveillance Systems.

The incumbent must have:

  1. At least 12 - 15 years experience with maintaining/testing industrial network systems.
  2. At least 12 - 15 years experience in reading and interpreting AutoCAD and Visio drawing programs. 

Formal Education:

  1. The incumbent must possess a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or a related degree with 12-15 years of experience or
  2. MS in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or a related degree with 9-11 years of experience or
  3. Ph.D in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or a related degree with 7-9 years of experience

Work Experience:

The incumbent must have:

  1. Knowledge of network architecture (Ethernet, leased lines, etc.).
  2. Knowledge of TCP/IP and back office applications including SQL Server, enterprise backup systems, etc.

Personal Traits:

The following are requirements for employment:

  1. Knowledge of design techniques.
  2. The ability to work with end customers.
  3. Pass a background investigation and a drug test.
  4. Stable work history.

Use of Tools:

The incumbent must have:

  1. Knowledge of Visual Basic         
  2. AutoCAD
  3. PLC/HMI
  4. SCADA
