Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent is responsible for:

  1. Assisting in the preparation of technical documents such as requirements analysis, engineering plans, proposals, and statements of work.
  2. Performing site surveys to verify requirements.
  3. Making line drawings (30, 60, 90 and 100 percent drawings).
  4. Listing quantities and types of materials used.
  5. Providing cost estimates.
  6. Understanding product types and applications and grades of materials.
  7. Ensuring materials meet specifications and the client’s budget.
  8. Tracking budgeted hours to ensure project is completed on time and on budget.

Job Working Conditions and Environment:
This position requires flexible work hours and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. In order to get a project completed on time, employees are often required to work overtime, weekends and night shifts. The incumbent must work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.

Years of Experience:
This position requires between six (6) and eight (8) years of experience in the design, integration, installation, testing and documentation of electronic security systems, circuit design, government drawing standards and practices, and
the design of panel layouts and enclosures.

Formal Education:

  1. This position requires an BSEE, BSEET, or related degree.

This position requires:

  1. Attention to detail in completing work tasks.
  2. Strong organizational, communication and analytical skills.
  3. Managing one's own time in order to meet deadlines.
  4. Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  5. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

The incumbent must have:

  1. Experience working with CAD
  2. A working knowledge of the latest edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  3. Managerial training.
  4. At least four (4) years of experience managing multiple electronic systems projects and supervising one or more design engineers or technicians.
  5. At least two (2) years experience designing circuit and circuit board, component packaging and/or electronic data acquisition and process control systems.

This position requires the incumbent to:

  1. Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  2. Sitting for extended periods of time.
  3. Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  4. Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
  5. Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  6. Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  7. Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  8. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  9. Identify and understand the speech of another person.

The incumbent must:

  1. Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work in order to meet deadlines.
  2. Be detailed oriented and finish projects thoroughly.
  3. The incumbent must pass a background investigation and a drug test.
