A Telecommunications Apprentice assists in the installation of Telecom equipment in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards.

Responsible for but not limited to:  

1. Assisting in pulling various types of wiring.
2. Assisting in Site Grounding
3. Assisting in Pulling Low Voltage Cable
4. Assisting in Prefab Assembly installation.
5. Assisting in Core Drilling
6. Assisting in the installation of Cable Tray. 
7. Installing Devices
8. Maintaining clean work area.
9. Securing company tools daily
10. Assist with monthly tool checks
11. Participating in Job site clean up
12. Handling material.
13. Preparing the work area.  
14. Demonstrating effective use of hand tools such as drill motors, sawzalls, hydraulic knockouts punches, etc.
15. Wearing all Personal Safety Equipment
16. Following safety policies and rules
17. Reading, understanding and demonstrating use of Activity  Hazard Analysis
18. Demonstrating proper use and care of tools
19. Displaying understanding of and following material safeguarding and storage practices
20. Displaying understanding of and following equipment safety, safeguarding and storage.
21. Assisting in all size of telecom wire pulling.
22. Participating actively in Daily work briefings.

Requirements

1. Valid Driver's License
2. High School Diploma or GED
3. Reliable Transportation
4. Clean driving record
5. Must successfully pass a background check and drug test

Abilities

1. Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.
2. Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
3. Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
4. Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
5. Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
6. May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
7. Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.  It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
8. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
9. Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
10. See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
11. Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
