The Control Engineer IV provides technical information and leadership to others working on a project to ensure that the work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design requirements; troubleshoots engineering related installation problems; acts as a liaison with the client and/or owner regarding the project process. Project size: greater than $1,000,000.

Job Duties

  1. Processes submittals, RFI’s.
  2. Posting RFI’s and change orders.
  3. Pricing, tracking and managing change orders.
  4. Identifying change orders and ensuring effective resolution.
  5. Maintaining as-built drawings.
  6. Documenting project issues/conditions.
  7. Maintaining organized and detailed project records.
  8. Submitting hours and cost codes.
  9. Planning and executing project completion and punch list.
  10. Preparing specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
  11. Submitting O&M manuals.
  12. Assisting in development of full estimate.
  13. Participate in KPR (Key Project Review).
  14. Managing coordination, detailing logs & schedule.
  15. Managing schedule updates.
  16. Identifying value added solutions & cost savings methods.
  17. Instructing field personnel in proper Railroad/Transit installation procedures for various wayside equipment.
  18. Understand relay and relay equivalent drawings (generated by computer language).

Requirements

  1. 10-15 years of experience as a Control Engineer
  2. Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  3. Ability to demonstrate solid working knowledge of control and automation systems
  4. Design and evaluate manufacturing control systems
  5. Good working familiarity with electrical & ISA requirements and recommendations
  6. Writing and presentation skills, use of common office productivity software
  7. CAD production capabilities
  8. Ability to estimate hardware, engineering, software production, testing for signaling system projects
  9. Prepare and solicit pricing from prospective vendors
  10. Evaluate Vendor proposals
  11. The ability to read Track and Cable Plan.
  12. Understanding of transit design processes.
  13. Understanding of pre-written field test procedures.
  14. Ability to develop field test procedures.
  15. Experience working with:  Microsoft Office, Estimation Software, Oscilloscope, Multi-meter, Various Railroading hand tools
