The Assistant Project Manager is a training position that consists of learning how to supervise and direct the employees on a particular project, prepare strategic plans and budgets, develop a comprehensive project plan, and analyze statistical data.

  1. Run day-to-day operations of a project or sub-section of a project.
  2. Identify change orders and ensuring effective resolution.
  3. Price, track and manage change orders.
  4. Plan and monitor cash flow against cash expenses.
  5. Maintain as-builts as work is completed.
  6. Document project issues/conditions.
  7. Plan and execute project completion and punch list.
  8. Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize organize, and accomplish your work.
  9. Read and interpret blue prints and project specifications.
  10. Research and compile submittals; pricing change orders and prepare estimates for partially designed projects by finishing the design and preparing a complete project estimate.
  11. Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  12. Communicate with people outside the Company, representing the Company to customers, the public, the government, and general contractor representatives.
  13. Clearly understand the timeliness required for decision making, submission of RFIs, and documentation of all verbal conversations or agreements.

Requirements

  1. BS (Preferred EE or Industry related degree) with five (5) to seven (7) years of experience.
  2. Related Construction experience with five years' working for an electrical or construction contractor.
  3. Experience working on construction projects ranging from $500,000 to $10M. 
  4. Experience working with contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications, change orders, RFIs, submittals.
  5. Experience with CPM Scheduling
  6. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints and drawings on projects.
  7. Must have strong interpersonal and writing skills and be a problem owner/solver.
  8. Proven ability to effectively plan and organize one's own activities or the activities of others.
  9. Proficiency with Computers including MS Office, Blue Beam, and PDF.

Preferred Skill set

  1. 10 Years Construction Experience with at least 5 years of direct project management in the electrical field and at least 5 years of cost and schedule management.
  2. Accubid Estimating (Or equivalent) directly related to Electrical Installations.
  3. Primavera P6 CPM Scheduling Experience and proficiency (or equivalent).
  4. Ability and Willingness to Travel to project locations as needed.
  5. Top Secret/SCI Clearance with Polygraph

Abilities:

  1. Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  2. Sitting for extended periods of time.
  3. Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  4. Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.

  7. Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  8. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  9. Identify and understand the speech of another person.
