Job/Internship Description

RK&K is looking a Summer Intern that will be working for the Systems Support Team assisting RK&K staff, addressing Information Technology needs and supporting related equipment, software, desktop systems, communications hardware and office systems. This position reports directly to the Manager, Information Technology. A strong team work attitude and critical thinking/problem solving skills are required of the candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities may include:

  • Address assigned help-desk tasks from task assignment to resolution and close
  • Exposure to computer systems related administration and support which may include backup, security management, user account management for office systems and perform applications support
  • Exposure to technical support for desktop, network and virtual hardware, software and applications
  • Exposure to the process of building, loading and upgrading desktop systems
  • Exposure to Cybersecurity
  • Exposure to implementation of security measures on networks and/or systems
  • Address assigned implementation of technology needs analysis end-to-end
  • Exposure to and address configuration and distribution of hardware and software as required, ensuring upgrades are accomplished as assigned
  • Exposure to planning, implementation and support for the network and computing infrastructure plan
  • Area clean-up support, inventory management and documentation

Qualifications / Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • IT related experience
  • Basic familiar with Microsoft Office 365
  • Basic understanding of help-desk related operations and software. Able to take on and manage multiple tasks
  • Some experience with support networked printers and photocopiers.
  • Some knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications / Skills

  • Ongoing path to acquiring a Bachelor or Associate Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Management Information System
  • Specialized certification for Computer Science (MCSE, A+, Security +)

Success Factors

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and related Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability to perform customer support, ability to communicate clearly and effectively, apply problem solving is necessary to successfully support this position.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, filing cabinets and fax machines. May lift or move banker boxes, paper, books, and office equipment up to twenty-five pounds.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to type, file or lift office supplies up to twenty-five pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, talk and listen.
