Job Description

Individuals must be able to serve as a Host/Hostess and conduct US currency production tours—effectively memorizing and articulating information quickly. Must be dependable, have strong interpersonal skills, exceptional customer service experience, and work well under pressure. The position also requires basic computer skills to research and provide information on-demand. Public speaking and Tour Guide experience is a plus.

Minimum Requirements:
 

  • Available to work Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM, March through August
    • Must have open availability, including working flexible hours.
    • Ability and willingness to stand for long periods.
    • Must be willing and able to function in all of the fantastic tour areas (indoor and outdoor)
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be prompt and dependable.
  • Must enjoy working with the public.
    • Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
    • Comfortable with public speaking in front of large groups.
  • Must be a fantastic team player, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.
  • Must possess the ability to work with a fun, diverse team and public under fast-paced, ever-changing conditions.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Applicants are required to pass pre-employment background screenings successfully.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Conduct (30 – 45 minute) guided tours to various visitors including Government officials, special visitors, school groups, civic groups, and special interest groups.
    • Memorized tour script and provide interesting and entertaining information about popular locations or specific points of interest.
    • Responsible for familiarity with all tour galleries, exhibits, and displays.
    • Facilitates rich discussions that maintain visitors’ interest.
    • Retells and relays important or interesting historical facts, dates, and anecdotes.
    • Engages wit and charm to enhance the guest experience.
    • Tailors tour content to the age and interest of guests and visitors.
  • Must be well-groomed, have strong interpersonal skills, exceptional customer service experience, and work well under pressure.
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable safety practices, environmental regulations, and establishment policies.
    • Maintain current CPR certifications from a program consistent with or provided by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
    • Stand ready to perform CPR when police officers and health unit personnel are unavailable immediately.
  • Providing special tours, preparing packets for particular groups and language-specific tours, and handling special requests from the COR.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
  • Have customer service experience. Experience in a visitor center or public tour service preferred.
  • Have at least one (1) year public speaking experience to larger groups (over 30 people), involving making high-level concepts accessible to a variety of ages.
