Job Description Manages, coordinates, and implements the initial credentialing processes and reappointment process for all medical staff providers and requests for privileges. Provides a review to determine whether a practitioner is qualified and competent for medical staff membership and/or privileges. Assures Processes and files are in compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and federal and state regulations. Actively participates in the Inova Health System medical Staff and Credentialing initiatives including the establishment of centralized credentialing and the ongoing development and process improvement initiatives. With the Administrator, participates in TJC preparation and TJC and other regulatory agency interviews regarding the credentialing and reappointment processes. Assists in the Physician Services office with everyday activities (i.e., mail delivery and distribution, medical staff lounge needs, ordering supplies, physician referrals, etc.) Maintains the computerized credentialing system (MSOW). Communicates all updates to the centralized credentialing office regarding office addresses, board certifications, licensure, malpractice insurance, and demographic information for each member of the medical staff. Responsible for entering and modifying privileges into the MOSW system.

Special Skills: Proficiency in database management, MS Work, and MS Excel required; strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in a high stress environment and communicate effectively with medical staff members; knowledge of hospital operations and medical terminology.
