MicroHealth is seeking a Medical Record Technician to support our headquarters in Vienna, VA.

This is a planned position.

Job Description:

The Medical Record technicians are primarily responsible for reviewing, correctly indexing patient reports and patient charts. Candidates must be familiar with and able to accurately and productively prep, scan, and index documents. Must also effectively assist physicians, other staff, and customers in locating and/or must provide the information needed from the EHR. Candidates must work well independently and have the knowledge and/or experience needed to effectively assist in resolving prepping, scanning, indexing, documentation upload and/or integrity issues that arise.

Job Duties:

  • Accurately and efficiently scan or import and index patient-related medical records into the clinic EHR system
  • Release medical records and protected health information to patients
  • Process and track incoming medical records and protected health information from outside facilities.
  • Answer telephone inquiries regarding patient records
  • Maintain strict personal, customer, and company confidentiality as defined by HIPAA privacy rules and according to healthcare industry standards
Position Requirements

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Associates Degree
  • One year previous medical records or health care experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, clinic staff and other health care professionals relative to medical record questions and concerns
  • Computer experience must include use of word processing, windows, and functions involving data entry
  • Ability to work independently, quickly and efficiently

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee may lift or move objects up to 5 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
