Job Brief

As a Sr. Quality Software Engineer, you will join the team of hands-on, passionate Quality professionals developing and testing the design and development of autonomous aircraft.

Aurora Flight Sciences is an American aviation and aeronautics research subsidiary of Boeing which primarily specializes in the design and construction of special-purpose Unmanned aerial vehicles.

As a Sr. Quality Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery of quality software by ensuring effective execution of design and development processes. The Engineer will work with design and development teams to develop progressive processes and a quality framework for new offerings, leading a team on the front line of making our existing product and service offerings better through process improvements.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE:

  • Create and maintain procedures and plans in compliance with customer requirements, and ensure effective use of information to drive compliance and continuous improvement

  • Work with testing and design Core SW teams to review products and systems, understand effectiveness and produce required reports

  • Participate in and document project milestone reviews for assigned tasks

  • Investigate and report non-compliances to company processes to testing and design teams and collaborate to address any improvements as needed

  • Follow up regularly with various departments to communicate results

  • Review findings and escalate for proper resolution of product and process non-compliances

  • Plan and establish schedules for own work and follow up performance against estimates

  • Provide technical consultation and advice to peers

  • Support Code Validation and Code Reviews with the Engineering Team

  • Lead SW audits

  • Participate on the Program Gates (Quality Gates) such as CoDR, PDR and CDR including all subsystem program gates

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior Software Quality Assurance and/or Configuration Management experience

  • Knowledge of DAL SW and HW levels based upon DO-178C/254A desirable

  • Knowledge of SW tools such as MATLAB highly desirable

  • Knowledge of SAE ARP4754 and ARP4761

  • High knowledge on design and development of mission-critical onboard software and/or ground control applications for UAV systems and Autonomous Vehicles

  • Highly knowledgeable on Model-Based Design and/or Model-Based Test and Mathworks Simulink/Stateflow Auto-Coder Toolchain

  • Knowledge of FAA SW requirements is a plus

  • Highly-proficient ability to convey technical information as well as interface with internal and external customers

  • Experienced conducting research and defining procedures for engineering and process issues

  • Able to use expertise, experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Independent ability to determine the best approaches for achieving results

  • Proven ability to communicate and work with cross-functional departments and groups

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • BS of Computer Engineering, or other relevant discipline

  • 5 or more years of experience in relevant Software Quality Assurance areas
