Documentation Specialist - Requisition ID 037280
  • Develops, software requirements specifications, design specifications, program specifications, user guides, on line help files or other identified technical documentation for applications and systems.
  • Works independently to gather and research engineering and development information for use in customer-facing documents (user guides, release notes, technical notes/bulletins, reference manuals, others).
  • Document technically accurate application specification manuals, end user documentation, and on line help files, all within compliance with customer mandated standards.
  • Achieves a deep understanding of the technical concepts that are introduced into existing products as new releases/features, with minimal assistance.
  • Elicits technical information from application staff members, other contractors or client representatives throughout the software development life cycle to accurately document technical information.
  • Prepare for and participate in formal peer reviews.
  • Performs in, or submits work products for peer review in accordance with organizational processes and procedures.
  • Participates in design and development review sessions, as appropriate, to ensure full understanding and articulation of design and development requirements throughout the system development lifecycle and documenting in technical documentation.
  • Applies technical writing updates to work products resulting from peer reviews or quality assurance testing, as appropriate.
  • BA/BS in English/Communications/Business Administration or associated field and 6 years of specialized experience.
  • Associate Degree in relevant fields and 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Working within organizational CMMI compliance preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience providing full life cycle documentation for client/server and/or web-based applications.
  • Expert knowledge of the MS Office Suite and Visio.
  • Experience with publishing documentation and content in multiple media including SharePoint, Serena Dimensions RM, and Project Repositories.
  • Experience in developing and publishing training material.
  • Ability to work within a team environment; matrix and project-specific organization.
