Job Description
The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center is Washington’s premier special events and conference facility, located on historic Pennsylvania Avenue in the heart of Penn Quarter in Washington DC.  Currently the Accounting department is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to add to its team. 

The Accounts Payable Specialist will process company's payable accurately and timely including the following:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review submitted invoices for proper documentation, coding and approval
  • Enter invoices in Microsoft Dynamics GP accounting system
  • Run payables batches to be reviewed for approval and posting
  • Print checks weekly and attach back up for signature
  • Excel usage necessary job function to reconcile some payments
  • Maintain vendor database in Microsoft Dynamics GP
  • Assist with month end close process
  • Track W-9's and complete 1099's in compliance with IRS requirements
  • Reconcile any vendor discrepancies
  • Provide administrative and other duties as needed
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or equivalent field of knowledge preferred; Associates degree may be considered with multiple years of AP experience;
  • Minimum of three (3) years accounting experience or accounts payable preferred;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel as well as Microsoft Dynamics GP experience;
  • Must show strong initiative and have excellent communication skills in order to work with other departments and vendors;
  • Strong knowledge of practices and procedures in the Accounts Payable area/accounting field;
  • Ability to rely on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform certain tasks;
  • Trustworthy and the ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Strong sense of initiative and sense of urgency required with reliable follow-through and execution skills
