Job Description
The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, a powerful voice for working men and women, is seeking a Field Programs Coordinator that will contribute to developing, executing and maintaining strategies and programs related to inclusion, equity and diversity. Responsible for the programmatic development and implementation of programs around working families, gender equality, and young worker activism.  Develops strong networks at the national and local level and develops programs to engage those networks in UFCW campaigns. Serves under direction of the Director as a liaison for UFCW constituency groups, AFL-CIO constituency groups, labor affiliate programs and community partners pertaining to working families.

   Qualifications
  • B.A. degree in Labor Studies and/or related social science field of study. Must have 5 years’ experience in the labor movement with a union or labor federation and a minimum of 2 years of young activism, community, civil rights, and/or political experience.
  • Extensive experience working with diverse communities.
  • Ability to identify multicultural and diversity issues and formulate effective strategies for addressing those issues in organizing, collective bargaining or community coalition-building.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, ability to work independently within the context of a plan as part of a larger team; effective organizational and time management skills and able to handle multiple high priority projects; and the ability to create written work plans.
  • Must have experience in leading staff, staff supervision, enforcing policies and procedures, planning and budgeting.
  • Demonstrated experience and highly proficient in use of online tools, databases, computer mobilization tools and new media in a professional context
  • Must have strong commitment to promoting and defending labor, social justice, civil and human rights issues.
  • Frequent and extended period of irregular hours and/or constant travel.
Compensation:  Salary commensurate with experience. Generous benefits.
