Organization
The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is a nonpartisan, nationwide, nonprofit organization of public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity, and five U.S. extra-state jurisdictions. CCSSO provides leadership, advocacy, and technical assistance on major educational issues. CCSSO seeks member consensus on major educational issues and expresses their views to civic and professional organizations, federal agencies, Congress, and the public.
Summary
The OER Fellow reports to the Senior Program Associate on the Education Data and Information Systems team. The OER Fellow will conduct research, identify resources, and write original content for CCSSO’s OER Portal website. The Fellow will have the opportunity to contribute to the public dialog on Open Educational Resources (OER) policies at the state and national level. OER are learning materials in the public domain that hold an open license for sharing, accessing and collaborating.

Technical Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and have created or used charts, spreadsheets, and databases. Successful incumbents are proficient at using WebEx, Outlook, and Intranet/Internet tools.

Job Location: Washington, DC. Candidate must be local to the DC Metro area.
Start Date: Immediate
Compensation: This Fellowship will run 15 hours/week at a rate of $30 per hour through December 2016 with the possibility to extend.
