Our History

National Spine & Pain Centers (NSPC) is one of the nation’s largest pain management practices in the United States. Formed in 2011 with a re-brand of The Spine Center – NSPC quickly expanded, partnering with Capitol Spine & Pain in 2012. We strive to bring high quality providers in the specialty of pain management together to offer an extensive network to meet the needs of an ever growing population of patients living in chronic pain.

In late 2012 and 2013 our affiliations grew with the additions of New York Pain Physicians (now New York Spine & Pain Physicians) and Manhattan Spine & Pain Medicine, bringing our number of centers to over 40 with close to 100 providers in D.C., Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Virginia.

Our Specialists

Trained in some of the nation’s most prestigious medical facilities, our pain specialists have medical degrees in either physiatry or anesthesiology, many sit on advisory boards and serve as leaders in developing standards on best practices. They are educators themselves, providing instruction and consultations to other physicians and many have been recognized in numerous Top Doctor publications, such as, the Washingtonian and US News and World Report.

NSPC physicians also hold significant leadership roles in the pain management community and are in excellent positions to influence the advancement of the specialty. Dr. Sanjay Bakshi serves as the president of the New York Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the largest branch of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians in the country. Dr. Mayo Friedlis served as president of the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine and is currently spearheading NSPC’s efforts with regenerative medicine and the company’s Stem Cell Arts program. Numerous other NSPC physicians serve as directors and chairmen of instructional programs and pain management services at esteemed hospitals and medical centers across the nation.
