Our Values………

The Mason Way...A Values Statement
The “Mason Way” evolved from over a century of business decisions which were based, at least in part, on the principle of treating others as you would want to be treated. Today, this simple time-tested approach still applies to every aspect of the Mason Companies’ business practices. This commitment extends to customers, employees, suppliers and the communities in the Chippewa Valley. Implicit in the “Mason Way” are certain fundamental values:

Customer Satisfaction - Interaction with customers will be positive; customers will understand that we sincerely care about them.

Integrity - A commitment to open, honest, and sincere communications and behavior.

Progressive - Founded upon a rich heritage and utilizing the strengths and skills of its workforce, we strive to be innovative, and flexible while constantly exploring new opportunities.

Work Ethic - A solid work ethic, professionalism, and flexibility are valued highly.

Community - We will be good corporate citizens; positive community involvement by employees is encouraged.

The “Mason Way” is an understanding that the customer permits the business to exist. Within the bounds of sound business practices and an operationally excellent business model, we will do everything possible to satisfy the needs of customers.

The “Mason Way” is a commitment to inspire and help employees succeed as well as assist employees in their transition to other employment in the event they are not successful in their endeavors here.

The “Mason Way” is a desire to form partnerships with suppliers and other parties and to maintain those partnerships as long as the relationship makes good business sense.

The “Mason Way” is to be a solid corporate citizen and a strong economic asset to the Chippewa Valley.

The “Mason Way” is really nothing more than fairness and common sense intertwined with the “golden rule”. It is also nothing less.

What do these values mean to you as a Mason employee – how are they implemented?

Mason Employees strive for customer satisfaction.

Interaction with customers will be positive. Our initial response is the customer is always right within sound Mason business practices, which means we will give all customers the benefit of the doubt up to a certain point. If we determine a customer is consistently or blatantly taking advantage of our liberal policy, disassociation is permitted.

When making decisions as an employee this is your guide. When in doubt about satisfying our customer needs, ask your supervisor or the appropriate fellow employee for advice.

Mason Employees have integrity.

Integrity basically means being open and honest to all people you deal with, both within and outside the company. People with integrity avoid secrecy because it can lead to distrust and ultimately a breakdown in relationships. Also, people with integrity never use their position of authority within the company for personal gains.

Honest communication includes providing all pertinent, available information, good and bad, necessary to make a decision.

Mason Partners have integrity.

Integrity helps us form lasting, beneficial partnerships with suppliers and other business associates, which makes good business sense. Partnering is a relationship where we strive for win-win solutions, whereby both participants acknowledge that their success will not come at the expense of the other.

To obtain this type of relationship both parties must be solution-oriented with similar value systems in place. The closer our values match up with the values of our partners, the greater the chance for mutual benefits and a lasting relationship.

Mason Employees are progressive.

It is important to grasp business opportunities and react to them as quickly and efficiently as possible. Employees must be willing to embrace change and be flexible in order for us to survive, prosper and be competitive in the business climate of today’s world.

Mason Employees have a good work ethic.

A solid work ethic is achieved by being personally accountable and responsible for the work being done in your area of responsibility. It also means being dependable and taking the initiative to constantly look for ways to improve the processes involved in your area of responsibility.

A strong work ethic also involves professionalism both inside and outside the organization. This includes many values such as providing positive constructive feedback, dressing and acting appropriately, understanding another person’s situation, honoring confidentiality, clear and consistent communication, etc.

A strong work ethic includes flexibility. This includes being open/able to change to new systems and processes, helping others in the company when they are in crunch time, and creatively looking to make improvements in jobs, systems, processes and work environment on a regular basis.

Mason Employees are involved with their community.

As a company, Mason is dedicated to being a good corporate citizen and a strong economic asset to the Chippewa Valley. This means participating not only in charitable organizations and activities, but also in those civic activities that promote the well being of our community. Although not a condition of employment, positive community involvement by all employees is strongly encouraged.
