As a geographical centralized distribution hub dedicated to food distribution, the Maryland Food Center maximizes the efficiency of the food industry and ensures Maryland's future food supply.

Our Mission: To develop, own, operate, improve, and maintain real estate project that provides economical, sanitary and modern facilities for food distribution in the State of Maryland.

Our Vision: A state with the most modern, safe, sanitary, and efficient food distribution network in the world.

Our Goal: To examined the development and distribution needs of Maryland's food industry, and the most effective use of the Authority's development and management resources to meet those needs. Since its creation by an Act of Maryland Legislature in 1967, the MFCA has become a national and international model for the development and creation of consolidated, wholesale food distribution facilities. Directed by a 12 member Executive Board, appointed by the Governor of the State of Maryland, the MFCA symbolizes the unique success and economic benefits that can be realized by the foresight of Maryland's public officials, when combined with the energy and determination of entrepreneurs in private industry. The MFCA has overseen the development and operations of one of the most extensive food distribution facilities anywhere in the United States. In 1989, the Maryland legislature, building on an already successful record of public/private partnership, extended the jurisdiction of the MFCA statewide.
