ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Distribution Engineer to join our team and assist in ingesting, processing, and distributing all networks wholly or partially owned by Tubi Media Group and its Joint Venture partners.
An ideal candidate will be someone who can collaborate and build relationships with various internal FOX teams, clients, and vendors as well as with engineering and product support staff from our JV partners. With your strong familiarity and experience with broadcasting and/or cable infrastructure, you will have the opportunity to provide support functions including problem determination and resolution, technical solution development, policies, procedures, and processes governing the use of the FOX and JV distribution architectures.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical support to Engineering and Operations teams as well as other groups to troubleshoot issues in the distribution chain internally
Help design, implement and support DAI for the FOX eco-systems to support linear and event-based programming.
Participate in the support and ongoing maintenance of standards and policies
Identify, resolve and escalate business issues as appropriate
Project ownership responsibilities include gathering requirements from diverse business units, documenting the proper design, and following through to project completion.
Provide input in the design and rollout of new distribution architectures for broadcast, cable, and streaming
Next-generation OTT, TVE, 5G, and IPTV metadata standards
Support Business Development and Operations teams for new launches
Provide input in the design and rollout of new distribution architectures for broadcast, cable, and streaming applications for FOX and our JV partners
Maintain and develop monitoring dashboards using Splunk and LTN Visual Metadata Analyzer, Telestream IQ products, and monitoring tools
Use of web tool skillsets (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL databases) to assist with monitoring and alerting efforts
Provide remote support of the HEVC software-defined platforms cable (v)MVPDs and the 209 FOX broadcast affiliates
Be an integral team member for the life cycle of projects from development, implementation, monitoring and maintenance
Provide training on distribution projects with the operations and other FOX teams as needed and develop and maintain training and workflow documents and diagrams.
Lead projects requested by the team
Keep abreast of industry initiatives through trade publications, webinars, and other sources
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent
Direct experience at a broadcast affiliate or large MVPD or equivalent military experience
Hands-on experience with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, transport stream analyzers, etc
MS Word/Excel/Outlook/Coding/Linux/macOS/test tools like WireShark
The position requires in-depth engineering knowledge of streaming protocols to include but not limited to SRT, Zixi, RIST, RTP+FEC
Knowledge of SCTE 35, 104, and 224 messages and commands, Next-generation OTT, TVE, 5G, and IPTV metadata standards
Ability to troubleshoot and identify potential technical issues throughout the distribution architecture
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Must be able to handle problems independently to resolution
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with short timelines and to maintain a professional and courteous manner in difficult situations
Perform and participate in a team-oriented environment
Excellent customer service skills and demeanor, communications, and interpersonal skills
Must be able to lift fifty pounds
